    "But I don't want to be a
    boring dancer to them..."

    - from a Budding Salsero
    By Edie, The Salsa FREAK

Some men have a "list" of female dancers they only dream about asking "some day".

Gentlemen, if you want to improve,
you've got to swallow your pride,
and just ask high-caliber females to dance once in a while.

    They won't bite you.
To get better, on occasion, you've got to practice with some of the best...

I had a dance recently with a woman and we were doing great on the dancefloor until she started "re-affirming" what I was doing, and asking if she did this right, did that right... it was like, "Was I supposed to turn there?.... High Heels are Killing Me

Dear Edie I live in on the east coast and have followed your articles for years. You are a great inspiration to me. I have a nagging question and just know you are the one to ask. I am 41 years old and a pretty good dancer. I practice all the time. I STUDY dancing...videos, you tube, performances, classes, private lessons, etc. But you know what - my dancing SUCKS (well maybe doesn't suck, but is nowhere near as good) in HIGH heels. I have no fun. I can't spin as wel...

    Addicted to a Salera's Smile

"Dear Edie, I’m just writing to say hello. I will start by saying what I’m sure hundreds of others have already said: in your brilliant writing you make yourself so plainly understood and convey the complex and wonderful joy of the Salsa experience so clearly that it’s hard not to think of you as an old friend. :-) But I will add this. Although I am a man I am a feminist, and although I work with computers for a living I hate browsing the web. I know you have a strong ...

    The Feminist Salsera

    "Dear Edie,
I first would like to thank you for an incredible website. However, I have been frequently disappointed by your articles concerning feminism. I have always believed, and I think most feminists and dictionaries would agree with me that a feminist is a person who believes in equality between men and women. Male-bashing does not fit this description because feminism's goal is not to put down either sex. To me dancing is a great metaphor for feminism because in dancing both

    We Have a Situation...

"Dear Edie, As a member of a [certain dance group] I found my self in a situation that I didn't expect. We were working on a choreography for a merengue, sort of like a Casina Rueda but it turned out that one of the girls that recently joined had certain body fragrances that woke me up! I want to be nice and tell her but I don't know how to it with out hurting her feelings and loosing someone with a joy for dancing from the group. Should I get one of the other girls to mention somet...

    Long Hair

    "Dear Edie,

I saw your article about long hair, but I really can't go to a salon every time I go dancing. My hair is halfway down my back and pretty thick, so when guys spin me it slaps them in the face if it's in a ponytail or it gets tangled in our arms if we try to do multiple spins. I've tried French twists and buns and it will not stay up. I'm ready to cut it all off unless you have some other suggestions. Hope to hear from you" - Ready to Cut it Off

HEY LADY, I absolutely love your web site, and I need help here. You probably have put some advice on this already. I did read up on the taking a small towel with you when you go out dancing, but what is a Salsera to do when she is the one that sweats up a storm? I’ve read somewhere a while back that taking a certain vitamin or something can prevent one from sweating so much, y como a mi me encanta tirar los pasos ya tu sae......... bueno sweat sweat sweat it is for m...
