The Story of the "Dear Edie..." Advice Column ...
After years of ... well you know, the usual.. travel, travel, travel... I have finally decided to resurrect my "Dear Edie..." page for my students to enjoy.

In the early 90's, the "Dear Edie..." page online was the "Salsa Rage" page "BOOM" that accompanied the Salsa "Boom" along with the Explosion of the Internet.

    Internet Boom = Salsa Boom

Both "Booms" happened simultaneously - and many have told me that the "Dear Edie..." column helped the Salsa Boom spark an even BIGGER BOOM because now EVERYONE on the PLANET realized we were ALL GOING THROUGH THE EXACT SAME THING!!! THE SALSA ADDICTION!!! AAAAAAAaaaahhhhh!!!!!

WELL, now the good 'ole "Dear Edie..." column has BOOMERANGED back into our lives again - with a new touch... WORDS OF SEASONED WISDOM. omg.

Now that I am semi-retired from touring, and very happily married, I can give precious "Words of Wisdom" to the naive Budding Salsero and SEASONED Salsa-Holic.

I hope this information is useful to everyone out there who has personal questions, but was always afraid to ask! I'll discuss anything I feel relevant, because chances are, others may have the same questions!

So grab some coffee (drug of choice for a Salsa-Holic), kick back, relax and enjoy!

      By Edie, The Salsa FREAK

Some men have a "list" of female dancers they only dream about asking "some day".

Gentlemen, if you want to improve,
you've got to swallow your pride,
and just ask high-caliber females to dance once in a while.

      They won't bite you.
To get better, on occasion, you've got to practice with some of the best...

Dearest Edie, I have one question and although I suppose they send you hundreds of messages and you don't have time to answer them all,I will ask anyhow...My question is this: is copa a position or all the procedure to bring the lady inside and then take her out again? Is it called ''in and out'' unofficially because most of the t...

"Dear Edie, I have a situation. I had a dance recently with a woman and we were doing great on the dancefloor until she started "re-affirming" what I was doing, and asking if she did this right, did that right... it was like, "Was I supposed to turn there?.... Did I do too many turns? .... Am I supposed to go left, right... did I step back ok...???" OMG... BY THE END OF THE DANC...

Dear Edie I live in on the east coast and have followed your articles for years. You are a great inspiration to me. I have a nagging question and just know you are the one to ask. I am 41 years old and a pretty good dancer. I practice all the time. I STUDY dancing...videos, you tube, performances, classes, private lessons, etc. But you know what - my dancing SUCKS (well maybe doesn't suck, but is nowhere near as good) in HIGH heels. I have no fun. I can't spin as wel...

"Dear Edie, I’m just writing to say hello. I will start by saying what I’m sure hundreds of others have already said: in your brilliant writing you make yourself so plainly understood and convey the complex and wonderful joy of the Salsa experience so clearly that it’s hard not to think of you as an old friend. :-) But I will add this. Although I am a man I am a feminist, and although I work with computers for a living I hate browsing the web. I know you have a strong ...

      "Dear Edie,
I first would like to thank you for an incredible website. However, I have been frequently disappointed by your articles concerning feminism. I have always believed, and I think most feminists and dictionaries would agree with me that a feminist is a person who believes in equality between men and women. Male-bashing does not fit this description because feminism's goal is not to put down either sex. To me dancing is a great metaphor for feminism because in dancing both
