I don't want to be boring

    "But I don't want to be a
    boring dancer to them..."

    - from a Budding Salsero
    By Edie, The Salsa FREAK

Some men have a "list" of female dancers they only dream about asking "some day".

Gentlemen, if you want to improve,
you've got to swallow your pride,
and just ask high-caliber females to dance once in a while.

    They won't bite you.
To get better, on occasion, you've got to practice with some of the best...

Thank you for the Beginner's Corner

Edie, I don’t really have a question. Just wanted to let you know how reassuring it is to read the stuff in the
Beginners Corner. Learning Salsa has been a struggle. I thought there was something wrong with my “musicality” but then I learned of musicians that arrange Salsa and can’t dance to their own music. So this is hard stuff and on more than one occasion I have been ready to quit but right now I’m on an all out attack using no fewer than four instructors

    Eaten Alive

"Dear Edie, Hi! Nice website. I love this Dancer Hangout! - Getting addicted to reading it during the day, getting READY to dancing it all night long! I am brand new to the Salsa scene. I have just started taking lessons. Should I go to the clubs and try out what I know so far, or will I get eaten alive? I barely have my Cuban motion down, and I don't have a partner. My friend said that there would be many women willing to teach me, but I just don't believe him. I have had one private lesson...

    Beginner Class Attitude and Etiquette
... "Dear Edie, I enjoyed the series of letters about the "beginner man" on the club scene. I wanted to add a comment about a few issues that I believe need to be addressed on this subject not only on the club scene but also in the dance class setting. Let me preface by saying that I am a beginner female with some previous dance experience. I have been taking beginning classes for several months, and plan to take them for several more. After

  • Two Left Feet

    Two Left Feet

"Dear Edie, I really want to take dancing classes, but at the same time I'm really nervous because I can't dance at all. I feel like I have TWO LEFT FEET. I'm not flexible at all when it comes to moving and dancing. Do you think that maybe I should order videos first before starting any lessons? I love to listen to music, but it comes to dancing I get really embarrassed. I know I'm going to be a stubborn one to learn, but I want to do it." - Scared to learn...not a quick learner!...
